Dental floss - an obligation or an addition to daily hygiene?
Dental floss is a solution known to everyone, but in practice not everyone uses it. Why? It is difficult to answer this question unequivocally, as everyone may have a different reason, but it is very likely that many patients are not aware of the important role dental floss plays in proper hygiene. Flossing should be used in the same way that toothbrushes are used. In hard-to-reach places, such as the space between teeth, a toothbrush cannot properly clean the tooth surface of bacteria and food debris. This leads to a situation where caries may develop in these places. Therefore, if you want to enjoy healthy teeth for as long as possible, it is worth considering the use of floss in your daily hygiene.
Which dental floss should I choose?
In practice, dental floss is a very general term under which quite diverse products are hidden. Their basic function is, of course, the same - they are supposed to provide proper protection in contact areas of tooth surfaces, however, manufacturers, meeting the expectations of consumers, have prepared various variants of the product. They are available, among others:
- Fluoride dental floss for even better protection against tooth decay,
- Antibacterial floss, which helps remove plaque,
- waxed floss, which is easier to place between teeth, which is a great advantage for people with crowded teeth.
If you don't know what type of flossing will work for you, your best bet is to get advice from your dentist.
Flosser, the perfect alternative to flossing
Flosser is a specially designed and prepared "cleaner", which allows you to reach tangential spaces. At the same time, it is much more convenient and easier to use than classic dental floss. In fact, it is a floss combined with a toothpick, and in some variants also with a scraper, which allows you to properly clean the tongue.
The floss on the cleaner is properly stretched and does not need to be held in the fingers, which is a great convenience for people who are not used to flossing.
